To facilitate, manage and control the flow of information between the Bank and its key external stakeholders in order to build and protect the Bank’s reputation as well as grow and maintain the marketplace’s trust in the Bank. Your role will include but not be limited to the following: 

  • build and manage the external communications team comprising corporate and digital communications, including setting and meeting KPIs, talent and performance management, learning and development and best practice/knowledge sharing 
  • determine the Bank’s public relations and communications (ex-product marketing) strategies and direct its campaigns, in alignment with business goals and priorities 
  • advise business partners (i.e. function heads) on their approach to corporate affairs and communications delivery, including reputation risk management (mitigation and reporting) and digital strategies 
  • lead and drive the Bank’s issues and crisis management 
  • own business-wide media relations and represent the Bank at media/influencer/KOL events 
  • build measurable awareness of the Bank’s brand, its achievements/story and its ongoing transformation 
  • stay abreast of trends in corporate communications best practice and networking externally to bring in new thinking, with a particular emphasis on developing digital capabilities 

Your team’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

  • source and distribute business intelligence to the Bank’s C-suite and business partners (i.e. function heads) to inform strategic decision-making, commissioning research where required 
  • develop and own corporate narrative and oversee its execution bank-wide through all communications, with particular emphasis on consistency of messaging 
  • own bank-wide media relations policies 
  • profiling of Bank’s leadership, including briefing and training ahead of media engagements 
  • develop, populate and manage (be the guardian of) communications calendar of activities 
  • evaluate events for participation value and make recommendations 
  • manage and upkeep corporate website and manage social media platforms (Instagram / Facebook / LinkedIn), including responding to queries arriving via these platforms 
  • build and manage media/influencer/KOL database; develop and maintain relationships and develop advisories/releases and eDMs for dissemination to media/influencers/KOLs while tracking their views 
  • oversee external agency and freelance communications support as required 
  • This role gives you the opportunity to set up and lead one of the most important sub-functions of a business that is pushing forward on its exciting journey of transformation while managing the inherent challenges of operating and growing in a frontier market. 
  • You will make a direct contribution to the company’s brand and reputation, working closely with and reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs (to be filled) and the Deputy CEO. 

  • University degree and/or diploma and/or 8+ years communications experience, preferably with 3+ years in a leadership role 
  • Extensive network of media/influencer/KOL contacts 
  • Awareness of and proficiency with communications technologies 
  • Solid experience and measurable successes in stakeholder/community engagement 
  • Confident, clear and concise communication capabilities with team members and senior management 
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities 
  • Experience in frontier markets will be a bonus 
  • Enjoys learning him/herself and is keen to contribute to the team’s professional growth 
  • Excited about leading and taking the initiative to make sure things run well within the function and across functions 
  • Collaborative and understands the need for transparency and sharing across functions
