Responsibility
1. Operation and Maintenance: 
- Manage the operation of ammonia-based refrigeration systems to maintain optimal cold storage temperatures. 
- Ensure regular preventive maintenance and troubleshoot any malfunctions in the refrigeration systems. 
- Monitor and control refrigeration parameters (pressure, temperature, ammonia levels) and make adjustments as needed. 
- Oversee the maintenance schedule and coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and servicing. 
2. Safety and Compliance: 
- Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA and local environmental regulations regarding ammonia handling. 
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the refrigeration system and ammonia storage areas. 
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent ammonia leaks or other hazardous events. 
- Train and educate staff on the safe operation of ammonia refrigeration systems. 
3. Team Management: 
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of refrigeration technicians and maintenance personnel. 
- Provide training and support to team members, ensuring they are skilled in operating and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems. 
- Assign tasks and manage shift schedules to ensure 24/7 operational coverage. 
4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: 
- Respond to breakdowns or equipment failures and resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime. 
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring issues with refrigeration systems. 
- Maintain detailed logs of equipment performance, maintenance, and any incidents. 
5. Inventory and Equipment Management: 
- Oversee the procurement and management of spare parts, tools, and materials required for maintenance activities. 
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good condition and operates within manufacturer specifications. 
6. Reporting and Documentation: 
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, ammonia usage, and safety inspections. 
- Prepare and submit regular reports on system performance, maintenance schedules, and safety compliance to senior management. 
- Assist in the preparation of budgets for maintenance and capital expenditure. 
7. Continuous Improvement: 
- Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, energy savings, and system performance. 
- Stay up to date with technological advancements and industry best practices in ammonia refrigeration and cold storage operations.  
Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Refrigeration, or a related field (preferred). 
- Relevant technical certifications in ammonia refrigeration or industrial refrigeration systems (e.g., RETA, REFCOM).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing ammonia refrigeration systems in a cold storage or similar industrial environment. 
- Proven experience in supervising a team of technicians and maintenance staff. 
- Strong knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and cold storage operations. 
- Familiarity with safety regulations and standards for ammonia refrigeration, certification in ammonia safety and handling (e.g., EH&S or similar).
